Save your first record

  1. Choose Save on the timeline. Scan a document, choose photos, or choose a file.
  2. Review the suggested details. Correct anything that needs it, choose a history or keep the record on its own, and review any reminder choice.
  3. Save the record. Open its original whenever you need the proof. Search finds records, references, and recognised document text locally.

To add an original from another app, use its share action and choose Add to Rekord, then open Rekord to finish review.

Common questions

What can I keep in Rekord?

Important PDFs, images, scans, and shared originals. Suggested details are strongest for household records such as services, policies, registrations, and purchases. Other originals use editable review and local search. Rekord does not interpret medical results.

What if my original has no printed date?

In review, explicitly choose the undated-original option. Rekord keeps the document date unknown and labels the record with when it was saved. You can still keep and find its original.

How do I check where a detail came from?

Open the record and choose the source link beside the recorded detail. When a source page is available, Rekord opens that page in the original. A recognised passage can be highlighted without changing the file.

Why did a reminder not arrive?

A tracked date and an enabled reminder are separate. Open the follow-up, check its reminder setting and lead time, and check notification permission in iPhone Settings. Delivery also depends on iOS settings and device conditions. Recording a date does not renew, book, or pay for anything.

How do I keep a copy if I lose or replace my phone?

Open Privacy & Data → Archives → Prepare archive. Review its contents, then choose Save or share archive and save the ZIP somewhere you can access without this phone. Rekord does not keep a cloud copy or provide device sync.

The complete archive includes Recently Deleted records, originals waiting for review, source text, and saved review edits. The ZIP is unencrypted; choose a private destination. Current limits are 1 GiB for the ZIP, 16 MiB for its manifest, and 10,000 originals.

How do I restore an archive?

On a new or empty Rekord installation, open Privacy & Data → Archives → Choose archive. Choose a Rekord recovery ZIP, inspect its checked contents, then choose Restore this library. Existing records and unfinished imports block restore; nothing is merged or overwritten.

Saved follow-up reminders restore off. Review the dates and enable the reminders you want on the receiving iPhone. Unfinished drafts retain their review choices without being confirmed or scheduling notifications. Readable exports and evidence packets cannot restore a library.

Why can’t I create or restore an archive?

Unlock the iPhone and check that each original is available. Open Save to process any pending imports or originals waiting in the share inbox. Restore also requires an empty library. A damaged or unsupported ZIP is rejected with an explanation; Rekord accepts its own recovery format, rather than arbitrary document ZIPs.

Can I recover a deleted record?

Open Privacy & Data → Recently Deleted to restore a record that has not been permanently deleted. Rekord keeps it there until you choose permanent deletion; there is no promised automatic retention period. A recovery archive made before deletion may also contain the record.

What does erasing Rekord remove?

Erase all Rekord data removes the local library, originals, pending imports, temporary prepared copies, local usage counters, and pending reminders. Copies saved to Files, sent to another person, or included in external device backups must be managed at their destination.

Contact support

Email rekord@ogenso.com for help with Rekord or a privacy question.

When asking for help, describe the steps and what happened. Include the Rekord version and iOS version. Use a fictional example or remove personal details from screenshots when possible; you do not need to send a complete archive to describe a problem.
